This production was part of the "Concerti Break e Aperitivo" (Break and Aperitif Concerts) series organized by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna during its 1994–1995 season. The series aimed to bring classical music to audiences in accessible formats and diverse venues across Bologna, including the historic Teatro Comunale and the Aula Absidale of Santa Lucia (part of the University of Bologna). This specific iteration of the series focused entirely on the chamber music of Johannes Brahms, featuring the in-house instrumental forces of the Teatro Comunale rather than external touring soloists. By pairing the distinctive Horn Trio with the symphonically conceived Piano Quintet, the program highlighted contrasting facets of Brahms’s mature chamber style. Presenting the same program first at the main opera house and then at the university venue helped connect traditional concertgoers with the city’s academic community.
