Michael Ende’s “Der satanarchäolügenialkohöllische Wunschpunsch” was published in 1989 and is the author’s last completed novel. Despite its serious subject, Ende called it his funniest book. For this staging of the magic farce about everything good and bad in the world, director Kristin Trosits returns to Schauspiel Wuppertal. At its center are the evil wizard Beelzebub Irrwitzer and his aunt, the witch Tyrannja Vamperl, who—shortly before year’s end—have not yet fulfilled their quota of misdeeds. Their last chance: the “punch of all punches,” the satanarchaeolügenialcohellish Wish-Punch. Everything would go according to their diabolical plan—if tomcat Maurizio and the raven Jakob Krakel hadn’t overheard everything and were not now trying to avert the catastrophe and teach the two villains a thorough lesson. The production is presented as a family show for ages 6 and up.
