World premiere for Hamburg Ballet by Alexei Ratmansky, based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Ratmansky—the New York Times has called him “arguably the most important ballet choreographer today”—brings his distinctive blend of classical technique and modern sensibility to Alice’s fantastical journey. The American choreographer with Ukrainian roots, Artist in Residence at New York City Ballet, is renowned both for 19th‑century reconstructions and imaginative narrative ballets. This new work explores whether Alice’s adventure is a dream, a parallel universe, or a dive into the subconscious, inviting multiple readings of Carroll’s wondrous tales. Recommended for ages 8+, with an introduction 45 minutes before each performance; family and youth introductions are scheduled on selected dates.
