About this event

Prima Donna is a mono-opera in which a single soprano embodies a sequence of operatic heroines — Giuditta, Esmeralda, Lauretta, Musetta, Cleopatra, Marguerite and Undine — each becoming a voice in an interior dialogue. The staging inverts theatrical ritual: the soloist begins not on stage but in her dressing room, facing a wall that “does not praise, lie, or judge.” The audience serves as a silent wall, overhearing the journey from feeling to understanding. Conceived as a chamber, mobile production for six musicians with compact scenic language, it is designed to travel beyond Klaipėda. Director Rūta Bunikytė describes it as “an intimate meeting with oneself,” where the seven personae are not biographies but facets of self-knowledge — courage, freedom, desire, play, will, guilt, depth — explored through well-known repertoire newly arranged for small ensemble.
