Im Gestein

This is a concert production for the SWR Vokalensemble under the direction of Daniel Reuss. The program combines four choral works in a fixed sequence: Robert Heppener's Im Gestein, Stefan Keller's commissioned world premiere Offenbarung und Untergang, Johannes Brahms's Warum ist das Licht gegeben, Op. 74 No. 1, and Heppener's Nachklänge. Im Gestein uses nature poems by Paul Celan and mountain imagery including rock, chalk, limestone, scree, and related images. Offenbarung und Untergang is based on a text by Georg Trakl and is described as a spiritual and dreamlike boundary experience. No director, scenic design, costume design, lighting design, staging concept, or additional production team is specified. The string quintet and percussionist are unnamed.
