This education concert, designed for students in grades 6 through 8, explores the concept of musical inspiration and the lineage of compositional ideas. The program is curated to demonstrate how composers do not create in isolation but rather listen to, learn from, and build upon the works of their predecessors and contemporaries. By juxtaposing classical masterpieces with later works that reference or reimagine them, the performance illustrates the evolving nature of musical language. The production is held at the Mandel Concert Hall within the Severance Music Center. It is part of the Cleveland Orchestra's educational outreach initiatives, supported by the Jane B. Nord Concert Access Fund, which allows for free admission for school groups. The concert serves as a live pedagogical tool to engage young audiences with orchestral music through a thematic lens.
