For those who know how to hear it, the sea is a veritable symphony: from the ripples and lapping of the ocean's surface, to the songs of whales and dolphins in the depths. Tan Dun, a Chinese composer born in 1957, knew how to hear this, and his Water Concerto immerses us in these aquatic sounds: in a pictorial way, through the impression of grandeur offered by the orchestral playing, and in a more concrete way, through the presence of very special percussion instruments such as sonorized water basins! After this extraordinary aural experience, the orchestra returns to the basics with Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica ", which echoes the period of intense questioning of the established order at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th.
