About
ENIGMA was the third concert in ERSO’s 2014/2015 Masterclass series, presented on 20 February 2015 at the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. The program placed late‑Romantic and early 20th‑century orchestral masterworks side by side, culminating in Elgar’s Enigma Variations. In the days leading up to the performance ERSO announced a significant cast change “for compelling reasons”: Norwegian conductor Torodd Wigum and British pianist Freddy Kempf replaced the originally scheduled artists. Under Wigum’s baton, the orchestra delivered a European journey in sound, while Kempf—well known for his acclaimed Prokofiev recordings—anchored the evening’s concerto offering. The event highlighted ERSO’s home‑stage artistry and the Masterclass series’ focus on interpretive insight and orchestral excellence.
