About

“Who am I” is a chamber concert produced by the Shirabe Festival as part of its 2024 edition at Ehrbar Saal in Vienna. The program explores identity through an eclectic mix of classical, jazz, pop, and avant‑garde music, guided by English‑language moderation that connects the selections and offers context. A seven‑member ensemble—two sopranos, one tenor, two harps, viola, and piano—creates a distinctive sound world, pairing the shimmer of dual harps with voices, viola, and piano. The evening includes iconic operatic arias such as the Toreador Song from Bizet’s Carmen and “Sempre libera” from Verdi’s La traviata, alongside the contemporary cabaret song “The Girl in 14G” and additional diverse works. Organized by Internationaler Kulturaustausch Wien (IEV), the Shirabe Festival focuses on intercultural exchange and innovative concert experiences. “Who am I” embodies this mission by juxtaposing Western operatic tradition with contemporary and cross‑genre pieces, using the theme of identity as a unifying thread.
