Descent

About

Descent is a new music-theatre production commissioned by the Greek National Opera Alternative Stage. It is structured as a multimedia work for a female opera singer, trombone, double bass and electronics. Konstantinos Baras is credited for music and video design, while Fanis Sakellariou is credited for the libretto and direction. The stage becomes a ritual space where music, the body and image coexist. The production explores whether a machine designed to obey can make choices, and examines revolt, power, obedience, resistance and freedom. The design team includes Olga Ntenta for set design, Brooke Englhardt for costumes, Maro Petli for movement and George Agiannitis for lighting. The live performers are Alexandra Achillea on voice, George Krimperis on trombone and George Kokkinaris on double bass.
