La Duse – Nessuna Opera is a dance theatre creation by COB – Compagnia Opus Ballet, conceived by Adriano Bolognino with Rosaria Di Maro. Framed as a “non-opera,” it pays poetic tribute to Eleonora Duse and to women, exploring the actress’s theatrical revolution rather than staging a specific play. The piece unfolds in two parts: the first intentionally embraces the conventions and artificiality of representational theatre, while the second turns toward a mature, immaterial image of Duse—an emblem of artistic research and light. Original music by Giuseppe Villarosa and a refined visual world—light and space (Gianni Staropoli), scenes (Loris Giancola), and costumes (Santi Rinciari)—shape the work’s atmosphere. The result is a choreographic journey from theatrical surface to inner essence, more meditation than narrative, and expressly not an opera or prose adaptation.
