The Story of Maya is a new commission by Bangladeshi musician–composer–performer Neel Kamrul for BCMG’s Music in Dialogue series. Rooted in Bangladeshi folk tradition, the work brings together South Asian instruments, voices and a contemporary classical ensemble to create a shared musical language shaped by listening, improvisation and exchange. The Birmingham presentation formed part of Bangla Month 2025 and was developed with the Bangladeshi Artist Development Agency (BADA) and Legacy West Midlands, with support from the British Council.
