Divergent Sounds

Divergent Sounds is a research-led collaboration between City of London Sinfonia and King's College London exploring neurodivergent experience through music. Composed by Amble Skuse, the work blends live ensemble and soprano with recordings drawn from interviews and focus-group conversations with neurodivergent people. The concert functioned as a sonic exploration of neurodivergent identities, considering how minds may work differently and the strengths and challenges of living in a predominantly neurotypical world. A visual timeline by autistic artist Jon Adams provided audience-facing guidance to the changing sound materials, and accessibility measures included advance information, quiet rooms, subtitles and a BSL interpreter.
