Heaven and Earth is a curated chamber music concert presented by the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia (CMSCVA) for the 2025–2026 season. Performed by Rieko Aizawa (piano), Jesse Mills (violin), Jordan Bak (viola), and James Wilson (cello), the two-hour program explores contrasts between the ethereal and the grounded. The repertoire includes a world premiere by Virginia composer Joe Jaxson, Adolphus Hailstork’s Three Spirituals for string trio, Pēteris Vasks’s Piano Quartet, and Antonín Dvořák’s Quartet No. 2 in E-flat major. The performance takes place at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Richmond, Virginia, an intimate acoustic setting ideal for chamber strings and piano. The concert reflects CMSCVA’s commitment to both contemporary creation and cherished repertoire, while expanding accessibility through a new initiative that welcomes students and children 17 and under free of charge with registration.
