Peter Stein's famous productions of Faust I and Faust II, originally presented uncut over 22 hours at Expo 2000 in Hanover, are reimagined here as a concentrated musical and theatrical event. After sold-out performances in Hanover, Berlin, and Vienna, composer Arturo Annecchino and Peter Stein decided to breathe new life into the monumental project. In 2007 they created Faust Fantasia, a melologue for voice and piano that distills the evening to its most essential elements for just two artists. The production strips away the massive scale of the original to focus on the intimate interplay between spoken word and musical accompaniment, creating a unique hybrid of theatre and concert.
