Victor is a child in exile. Every night, he draws the stars to keep a promise made to his mother. On the outskirts of a big city, the sky turns completely black—making it impossible to paint the constellations. He then meets Marie Moon, another orphan, and Monsieur Mo, an evening grocer, who will help him in his quest for truth. On stage, Victor has grown up and recounts his story in a musical form where Othman Louati’s contemporary and neo‑folk sonorities blend, with emotion and humor, with the poetry of voices. Written for voices, percussion, and bass, the piece is aimed at family audiences from age 6 and unfolds a world at once dreamlike, grave, and tender, around exile, memory, and transmission. Described by the press as “one of the most creative composers of today’s lyric repertoire” (Crescendo).
