Oceano

About

Oceano is a 30-minute dance experience designed for very young audiences. Families arrive as if going to the beach—with towels, buckets, and hats—then gather around a central space organized like a sea. Instead of a conventional stage, the audience sits close to a crochet-built marine environment that invites gentle exploration. The project is part of a broader Oceanos initiative, drawing on the knowledge and handcraft of an elderly community (Centro de Dia da Sé), whose crochet work shapes the immersive setting. Credits on the original listing name Ainhoa Vidal for creation, interpretation, costumes, and scenography support; Carla Martinez as scenographer; Pedro Gonçalves for music; and Nuno Salsinha for lighting and video. São Luiz Teatro Municipal commissioned the piece in co‑production with Teatro Aveirense.
