Ego is a staged concert that explores how human identity is formed and what makes us who we are. It poses questions about egoism and how we live side by side in society. Through spoken texts, theatrical scenes, and choral music, it examines the tension between individual identity and collective existence. Director David Oest frames the work as an exploration of how we must relate to one another as a collective—mirroring life, society, and the essence of singing in a choir. The aim is to present big questions with small demands, inviting the audience to keep an open mind. The musical palette is eclectic, with arrangements spanning Billie Eilish and Veronica Maggio, Nine Inch Nails, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Leadbelly, interwoven with excerpts from literary history and newly written dramatic scenes.
