This Salzburger Landestheater production of Robert Schneider’s 1993 monologue Dreck was created for the company’s Mobile Theatre for Schools program in the 2010/2011 season. Directed by Tessa Theodorakopoulos, it used the Havana Cocktailbar in Salzburg as a site-specific external venue. The choice of a real, everyday social space mirrored the environments where audiences often encounter the play’s subject—rose sellers—heightening immediacy and impact. In this intimate setting, the work confronts themes of everyday xenophobia, prejudice, and hostility toward immigrants with stark clarity. The collaboration with the bar’s operator, Jürgen Winkler, enabled this distinctive staging approach.
