Contrepied is a choreographic work by Christine Coudun for Compagnie Black Blanc Beur, a pioneering French hip-hop company founded in 1990 in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Recreated around UEFA Euro 2008, the piece translates football’s gesture-language into hip-hop choreography. It deconstructs athletic movement through layered speeds, rhythm breaks, dissection of motion, and exploration of center. The presence of the ball introduces randomness, while the referee figure injects humor with parodic, exaggerated gestures. Presented at Bolzano Danza 2009 under the theme HEUTE GESTERN MORGEN, Contrepied received its Italian premiere there. The project is a co-production with Die Buhne im Hof (St. Pölten), Théâtre d’Ivry-Antoine Vitez, and Ferme de Bel Ebat (Guyancourt), supported by regional institutions in Île-de-France.
