About
Perfect Match is a commissioned work of Oper Graz, composed by Finnish jazz pianist Iiro Rantala to a libretto by best‑selling author Minna Lindgren. Described as “a Finnish football operetta musical in two halves,” it fuses opera, operetta, musical theatre, jazz, classical music, dance, and humour at high speed, with diversity and equality at its core. Director Matthias Davids and choreographer Andrew Chadwick shape a witty, light‑footed dialogue between stage and pitch. The visual world is created by set designer Andrew D. Edwards, costume designer Adam Nee, and lighting designer Michael Grundner, with dramaturgy by Laura Bruckner. Musical direction is shared by Johannes Braun and Stefan Birnhuber. The production brings together the full forces of the house: the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Graz, the Chorus and the extras of Oper Graz. The German translation is by Roman Hinze and Ulrich Lenz; the world premiere takes place in Graz.
