The Red Room takes place in Iran in the 1930s and unfolds over a night when two strangers meet in the city of Khansar. One offers the other a room - not out of simple hospitality, but with a great need to share his deeply alienated inner life and confess a secret that will separate him from the rest of the world! A story that resonates with a new generation of Iranian and European citizens. This opera is a Danish premiere and is based on a short story by one of Iran's most important literary figures, Sadegh Hedayat, and composed by Amir Mahyar Tafreshipour, who is a Danish/Iranian composer. The libretto is written by award-winning English dramatist Dominic Power. The international Ensemble Fantômas is behind this production, which also involves dancers from Street Mecca in Aalborg. There will be talks with selected artists and the opportunity to meet all the actors after the opera. The ensemble holds a workshop on Friday, where you can work with your own artistic expression.
