Felix Landerer explores the deeply human need for positivity and optimism in a world full of chaos. “Everything will be ok” is a phrase that has lost credibility in recent years, yet it is still the one we most urgently want to hear. This two-part dance evening reflects the yearning for hope and a positive outlook on the future amid a pervasive sense of imbalance, catastrophe, and dwindling faith in the promise of a happy ending. Created originally in 2022 for Ballet BC in Vancouver as part of “What If,” the piece returns in an expanded format: a new choreography complements the original work, intensifying the tension between chaos and confidence. Part I is a world premiere consisting of five duets performed beneath a monumental fabric cylinder; Part II reworks and enlarges the 2022 choreography. The double bill marks Landerer’s farewell production as artistic director of TANZ Bielefeld. Note: performance includes strobe and laser effects.
