The ballet Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a children’s production by State Opera Stara Zagora, set to music by Prof. Alexander Yossifov, known for many children’s musicals based on literary fairy tales. Choreography is by Silvia Tomova, who employs varied theatrical and dance techniques, adding a distinctive sensuality and lyricism characteristic of her style. The colorful fairy-tale characters are drawn in sharp contrast with a dose of humor and irony verging on the grotesque. The visual world is created by Ivan Tokadzhiev (scenography and set design). Costumes by Parvoleta Ivanova-Letizia are inspired by Walt Disney’s concept—fairytale-like and playful, contributing to the good mood of both artists and audience. The staging combines vivid stage pictures with a variety of dance techniques. The production involves the company’s soloists and corps de ballet, together with children from the Children’s and Youth Studio for Opera and Ballet, lending the performance a special character and atmosphere.
