Missa Mama Nova is a deconstructed performance that fuses dance and choral/vocal writing to explore the Divine Feminine. Creator Timo Tembuyser uses original polyphonic music and spatial staging to free archetypal Mother energy from the normative image of the Holy Mary. The performers move through light and shadow, shifting between murmured speech and song, while choreography and breath shape a living, communal ritual. Lighting and movement carve out a contemplative space that feels both sacred and subversive, reframing Christian liturgy through a contemporary, feminist lens. The production contains stroboscopic effects.
