Le Terroir is a site-specific contemporary dance creation by choreographer-dancer Lorena Nogal, commissioned by the Festival Castell de Peralada for the Celler Perelada winery space. After its first presentation on July 4, 2025, the piece returns to the exact architectural environment for which it was conceived. The work is inspired by winemaking: it mirrors the transformation of matter through fermentation and treats the body as a territory in constant mutation. Eschewing narrative, the choreography develops a precise, tension-charged physical language—rooted in Nogal’s research with La Veronal—that oscillates between mechanical gesture and deep organic expressiveness. The staging dissolves distance between audience and performers: the Celler is not a backdrop but living matter that dialogues with movement, while audiences surround the action and complete the piece through their perception.
