Walk The Walk

About

Danish composer and media artist Simon Steen-Andersen takes walking—the simplest staged action—as the musical core of Walk the Walk. Pulse, speed, rhythm, direction, synchronicity, and kinetic energy become compositional parameters, as treadmills, objects, light, and smoke turn movement into sound and theatre. Drawing on early motion research and experimental studies, the piece deconstructs walking into precise theatrical-musical material. Developed with the Swiss percussion quartet Ensemble This | Ensemble That, the production reveals the mechanics, causality, and surprising musicality of each step.
