Toxic vol. 2 is a whirlwind of sisterhood, jealousy, ego, friendship, betrayal, the body, pain, snow, love, happiness, a walled garden, rotten roses, a saint and a villain, sex and virginity—brain-trash spinning in my head. The stage adaptation by Nataša Matjašec Rošker, based on Eva Mahkovic’s dramatization, takes its performative form from the novel section Mahkovic titled Vertigo. The production examines complex interpersonal relations and inner monologues drawn from Mahkovic’s autofictional novel. Staged on SNG Maribor’s Small Stage, it underscores the text’s intimacy and intensity, focusing on contemporary lived experience, identity, and emotional saturation.
