Dialogues is a duo evening with pianists Johanna Summer and Kit Armstrong at the Lausitz Festival, created as a live musical conversation between two grand pianos. Rooted in classical repertoire yet shaped by spontaneous invention, the performance explores improvisation from Baroque to 20th-century sound worlds. This is the first public collaboration between Summer—renowned for her improvisatory reimaginings of classical works—and Armstrong, a leading concert pianist and former master student of Alfred Brendel. Without prearranged selections, the artists react to each other's musical impulses in real time, allowing themes from Handel to Messiaen to emerge and transform organically. The result is a one-of-a-kind, improvisation-driven concert where classical tradition becomes the springboard for a fresh, living dialogue on stage.
