In the collaborative works of Marthe Meinhold and Marius Schötz, the traditional boundaries between straight theatre, opera, and musical theatre dissolve. For Tatort Schwerin, the directorial duo developed the concept and text in rehearsals together with the ensemble. Spoken scenes drawn from research and group discussions are interwoven with original songs by Marius Schötz, creating a hybrid play with music. This marks the duo’s first project at Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater following prior engagements in Basel, Stuttgart, Saarbrücken, and Karlsruhe. Using the intimate M*Halle, the production becomes an entertaining game of confusion that resists easy categorization and leans on the physical and vocal versatility of five young performers who sing, dance, and deliver rapid-fire comedy.
