Mirage

About

Mirage is the first creation by choreographer Damien Jalet for the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, developed in close collaboration with Japanese visual artist Kohei Nawa. Inspired by optical phenomena such as mirages and fata morgana, the work places the human body in a landscape shaped by illusion, transformation, and nature. Using light, scintillating pigments, vaporous smoke, and deep darkness, the production crafts a hypnotic, ever-shifting visual world in which dancers undergo unpredictable physical and emotional metamorphoses. Set to an original score by Thomas Bangalter (formerly of Daft Punk), the piece layers a meditative sonic environment over a visceral exploration of human essence. The performance includes nudity and stroboscopic light effects, with guidance for ages 12 and up.
