Alexander Ekman’s Play turns the stage into a giant playground, asking where our inner child has gone. Packed with vibrant energy and imagination, it unleashes surreal images—moon-men, galloping horses, giant balloons, and thousands of green balls cascading like hail. Created in 2017 for the Paris Opera Ballet, the work became an international sensation. Dutch National Ballet is the first company outside Paris authorized to dance the piece. Play requires a classical ballet company for its extensive pointe work, and blends ingenious stagecraft with video projections and live music. Note: recordings are made and shown live during the ballet; audience members may appear on screen. Presented in the framework of the Holland Festival.
