Accumulation ✌✌ is a curated contemporary music concert that stages a sharp dialogue between two contrasting aesthetics. Swiss composer Antoine Chessex frames the evening with noise-inflected, high-density sound worlds that unfold in sustained, forceful blocks. At the center sit three works by American-Canadian composer Linda Catlin Smith, whose music privileges close listening, delicate textures, and quiet, deliberate motion. The juxtaposition invites the audience to shift from the hyper-saturated to the attentively sparse, hearing time and detail in different scales. Chessex’s Accumulation pushes the ensemble into an electrified space where acoustic sound and electronic tape processing interpenetrate, with the computer acting as a primary generative force. All five works are Polish premieres, performed by the UK ensemble Apartment House with featured soloists on cello, piano, and tape electronics. The program’s architecture emphasizes contrast, focus, and the transformative experience of duration.
