GRIMM is an imaginative collage performance that fuses classical ballet with hip-hop. Created as a co-production between the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company and ISH Dance Collective, it is choreographed and staged by Ernst Meisner and Marco Gerris. Dynamic video projections transform the stage from a sunlit forest to a dark witch’s woodland in an instant. The choreography showcases both worlds: soaring pirouettes and powerful jumps alongside sharp popping, locking, and head spins. Playful nods to the classical canon appear throughout, including a hip-hop take on the dance of the little swans from Swan Lake. Costumes are by René van der Leest and Sigrid van Kleef (Studio RUIM), lighting by Mike den Ottolander, and projections by Aitor Biedema.
