Humus

Humus is a contemporary ballet by Albanian choreographer Julind Dervishi, developed within TKOB’s initiative to provide creative space for emerging artists. Approximately 60 minutes in length, the work is technically demanding and requires sustained breath control and stamina from the dancers. Its artistic vision centers on reverence for nature and the earth, contrasting the gifts nature provides with the harm inflicted by humanity. Rather than adopting a tone of revolt, the choreography emphasizes celebration and awareness, using expressive, dramatic installations to advocate for a cleaner planet. The staging incorporates striking visual motifs—most notably red earth—symbolizing blood and the sacrifices made by humanity over the years.
