WITCHCRAFT is a student-led creation for the Royal Academy of Music’s Students Create 2026 festival. The collaborative ensemble brings together four female vocalists, a flautist, and a dancer/choreographer to build mystical soundscapes that transport the audience. The project is rooted in the performers’ shared experiences as women in the music industry, confronting feelings of otherness and being reduced to body and gender. Musically, the piece explores contrasts—homophonic melodies against dissonant textures and purposeful disruptions of consonant harmony—as metaphors for its themes. It serves as a collective statement of solidarity, power, and resilience, celebrating companionship among women artists through original music and movement.
