François Sarhan’s Wunderwandelwelt is a multimedia music-theatre and concert-installation that turns the Werkstattbühne into a cosmos of sound, images, film, and live narration. Sarhan appears on stage at a steep desk, conversing with his screen-projected alter ego while guiding the audience through an encyclopedic, fragmentary universe. Two ensembles face each other: the ten-strong Ensemble Phace morphs between rock-band drive and romantic-symphonic color, while Sarhan’s six-member experimental group Something Out There anchors the percussive and exploratory core. Over roughly ninety minutes, scenes flow between live music, spoken text, and filmic sequences, gradually breaking the fourth wall. In the final section the audience is invited to leave their cardboard seats and move through the installation, assembling the story’s fragments in space and time.
