This 1982 staging of Jacques Debronckart's operetta Fanfan La Tulipe was presented by the Opéra de Tours at the Grand Théâtre de Tours under the musical direction of Robert Martignoni and the stage direction of Michel Jarry. The production featured choreography by Janik Rognoni. The visual identity drew on sets originally from the Opéra de Nantes and costumes supplied by Hardy (Paris). Scale models for both sets and costumes were designed by Jean‑Marie Manson, who had also been involved in the work's 1979 creation in Nantes. The production assembled a large local performing force including the Orchestre du Grand Théâtre, the Choeurs lyriques de l'Université and the Ballet du Grand Théâtre, and even involved the fencing and aikido section of the Foyer socio‑éducatif du Beffroi to support the swashbuckling action inherent to the Fanfan La Tulipe story.
