The 2019 staging of La Sylphide at arTurbina marked an important milestone in TKOB’s January–June artistic calendar, serving as a concrete collaboration between the national theatre and the Ballet School in Tirana. The production brought 30 students from the ballet school onto the professional stage, allowing them to embark on their career paths outside the classroom alongside the professional TKOB ballet troupe. Under the direction of Enada Hoxha, the company presented the renowned August Bournonville version of the romantic classic. Four different casts performed across the four-night run, giving multiple soloists and young talents the opportunity to interpret the demanding principal roles. The staging emphasized the natural beauty and elegance required for the ethereal characters, particularly the fairies dancing en pointe, a technique historically associated with this ballet’s legacy.
