Antonie Zschoch directs Maya Arad Yasur’s play Amsterdam at Theater Osnabrück. Translated from Hebrew by Matthias Naumann, the piece blends dark humor with a sharp, ironic gaze to probe complex historical and social questions. Zschoch’s team aims to uncover connections that often slip through conventional historiography yet continue to shape our present. Sets and costumes are by Sophie Lenglachner, with Theo Voerste providing the musical and video layers. Using multiple voices, the production unfolds like a crime story that interweaves past and present, identity and origin. It not only examines how society handles history and integration, but also exposes the contradictions of both collective and individual memory.
