Created by the independent theatre company Bloomshed, this adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is a sharp satire of polite society reframed through the modern housing crisis. It speaks to a generation confronting economic and environmental hardship and asks what function love serves in the twenty-first century. As period drama popularity soars and dreams of home ownership fall, the show questions whether love and marriage have become purely transactional. In a world defined by asset portfolios, Bloomshed chases the rom-com's coveted happy ending while embracing absurdity, including casting a potted monstera as Mr Bennet. Content warnings include strong coarse language, sexual references, haze and smoke, flashing lights, loud noises, and a prop gun, with references to colonisation and stolen land.
