The Broadway production of Be More Chill at the Lyceum Theatre expanded the show’s earlier Off-Broadway and regional iterations into a full-scale, 922-seat staging. Under Stephen Brackett’s direction and Chase Brock’s choreography, the production embraced a frantic, high-energy pop-rock aesthetic that mirrors the digital-age anxiety of its teen characters. Beowulf Boritt’s scenic design, Bobby Frederick Tilley II’s costumes, and Alex Basco Koch’s projections created a visual world steeped in 1980s New Wave and video game culture. The sound and lighting teams amplified the show’s sci-fi pulse, supporting a brisk, comedic pace. The result foregrounded the central conceit of a life-upgrading pill while maintaining a playful, neon-soaked style.
