Young John Lewis: Prodigy of Protest is a new hip‑hop and soul musical honoring the late Congressman John Lewis, the “Conscience of Congress.” Produced by Mosaic Theater Company of DC, it is directed by Reginald L. Douglas with choreography by Tony Thomas. The show blends contemporary hip‑hop theater with historical narrative to galvanize audiences toward action and remind them that people of any age can spark change. Deeply embedded in the DC community through Mosaic’s season‑long Reflection Series, the production features conversations, poetry and hip‑hop workshops, and citywide events culminating in the Good Troublemaker’s Festival. Designed by an award‑winning creative team (scenic: Andrew Cohen; costumes: Moyenda Kulemeka; lighting: Alberto Segarra; projections: Zavier Augustus Lee Taylor), the production uses general admission seating, includes mature language and themes, and recommends ages 12+.
