Out Here is a courageous new musical developed through a six-year collaboration between Court Theatre and the University of Chicago. It offers a fresh, intimate look at a family reconfiguring itself and rediscovering joy, exploring the unexpected freedom found in relinquishing control and the idea that sometimes things must be broken apart to create something better. Directed by Chay Yew in his Court Theatre debut, this world premiere concludes Court’s 2025/26 season. Supported by the Charles Newell Production Fund, the production is suitable for ages 8 and up. Complementing the musical, Court Theatre presents a suite of free public programs from April 3 to May 3, 2026, to explore the play’s themes and modern relevance.
