Throughout its 250 years of history, America has been blessed with great poets whose prophetic voices have inspired the nation to seek "the better angels of our nature." The Dedham Choral Society's spring 2026 production, "I Dream a World," is a thematic concert dedicated to the choral settings of these great American poets. The artistic vision centers on the profound and enduring words of Walt Whitman and Langston Hughes. These texts are brought to life through dramatic and lyrical music crafted by a diverse array of composers, including Howard Hanson, Ola Gjeilo, and Michael John Trotta. The production aims to embody the spirit of Abraham Lincoln's sentiment that "the mystic chords…will yet swell the chorus," utilizing an 80-member chorus to deliver this powerful message.
