This staging of Prairie Lights was presented as a youth musical by Patio Playhouse as part of their 56th Season (2022–2023). The production is a family-friendly holiday show centered around the historical context of the Orphan Trains that ran between the East Coast and the Midwest. It utilizes a unit set, as specified by the publisher's staging requirements, to support a flexible chorus and smooth transitions from the train journey to the small Nebraska town of Wellspring. Thematically, the show bridges both Christmas and Hanukkah, emphasizing community reunification and the experiences of abandoned children seeking adoption.
