Manic Street Creature is a soaring musical of first loves and fresh starts created by Olivier Award-winner Maimuna Memon. The critically acclaimed, multi award-winning production returns to the stage for a limited run at the Kiln Theatre, following its initial success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022 where it won a Fringe First Award, The Stage Award For Acting, and The Mental Health Award. The production has been praised for putting gig theatre back on the map and features an evocative, folk-infused sound. It vividly embodies a nuance rarely spoken about: that someone else’s trauma can be traumatising. The staging incorporates smoke, haze, strobe lighting, and an extended blackout, complementing the intense thematic material. The show deals honestly with heavy subjects, including strong language, relationship breakdown, adult references, mental illness, self-harm, and suicide. Generously supported by Adam Kenwright, it is presented by Kiln Theatre and Gary Beestone Associates.
