Galileo is a new pop-rock musical that dramatizes the life of scientist Galileo Galilei as he upends the world’s understanding of the cosmos and clashes with religious power. Directed by Michael Mayer with choreography by David Neumann, the Broadway production features music and lyrics by Zoe Sarnak and Michael Weiner and a book by Danny Strong. Raúl Esparza stars as Galileo, joined by Jeremy Kushnier as Cardinal Maffeo Barberini and Joy Woods as Virginia/Maria Celeste. The show explores the tension between truth and authority and the personal cost of defending discovery.
