The Painted Bird Trilogy, Part 1: Bastard is an interdisciplinary dance-theater work by New York-based choreographer Pavel Zuštiak and his Palissimo Company. Blending contemporary dance, live music, and video, the piece confronts themes of displacement, otherness, and transformation. Presented at California State University San Marcos as part of the Arts & Lectures Series, the performance featured dancer Jaro Vinarský and live viola by composer Christian Frederickson. The work was developed through a collaborative network of co-producing arts centers and institutions and brought to CSUSM with support from local partners.
