NAKED explores the body’s movement vocabulary and the threshold between inner impulse and outward expression. Dominique Dumais centers individual physical traits, dynamics, and states of mind, seeking the point where interior and exterior meet. The staging emphasizes the courage to reveal unvarnished corporeal reality rather than an idealized image. A spare, mutable design of high hanging curtains and falling fabric planes opens and closes shifting spaces, alternating concealment and revelation. Lighting conceived by Bonnie Beecher (realized by Mariella von Vequel-Westernach) isolates figures in stark white and shapes ensemble silhouettes in shadow. Musically, live cello by Julia Kent—amplified and looped—layers instrumental color with everyday sounds, making sound design integral to the dramaturgy. The evolving textures mirror and propel the choreography’s changing intensities.
